i shall attempt to do my "speech" for clc here. hehe.

BUT OOH!

me and brit fully destroyed the printer today. hahaha- it was so hilarous! i was printing some shit right.. and then the printer just screwed up again like it always does. PAAPEERR JAAAAMMM!!! omg i get so sick of paper jams. they just annoy me, cuz they like happen five times a day! and there's this sign on the printer that says "in case of paper jam please do not attempt to clear the paper jam yourself and call the technicians thank you. " (see? they happen so frequently that i know the words off by heart now) but they happen so many times that you just get sick of trying to get the technicians everytime, chances are they're not there or they wont even help you and stuff. and they're like.. downstairs, man! that's ages away! HMMPH. i hate the techs. haha. but anyway, yea, so me and brit tried to clear it on our own.. we opened up every single bloody damned thing and had our own little adventure! LMAO. but yea it didnt work so i finally caved and went down to the techs. and he didnt even wanna help me! he's like "i have to stay till four in case a student comes" and it's like " .. uhhh?? I'M a student? " haha it was so hilarious! but cuz it was urgent and all (YES MY PAPER WAS DUE!) he helped me in the end. it was so funny too how he handled the papers he was wiggling them around! brit loved it so much LMAO. but yea. hilarious man. and so brit saves the day!! (again.)

but anyway, okay. i dont think it'd actually work if i wrote a speech (cuz i thought i just needed to say random stuff about my family) but i'll try writing the things i think i'm gonna say.

deepp breatth iiinnnnn..........
okay here goes.

UMM. hey everyone i'm dwitya and i go to korowa (as if you don't know that already). i'm here to share a little something about my family. let me start by telling you where i stand in the family, i'm the only daughter in the family and i'm sandwhiched in the middle between two boys- one two years older than me and one 8 years younger. yea, i know right, huge gap. i'm part javanese, part japanese and partly arabian.. it's kinda an odd mix but that's what i am. i got my japanese blood from my grandmas from both sides, and japanese and arabian blood from my grandfathers.. who are.. well.. one's japanese and the other's partly arabian (i've always just assumed he was arabian- i just found out that he's not completely arabian. but oh well). plus, i've got some pakistani cousins and stuff, so it gets pretty random. my family from my mom and dad's sides are both really different, especially with the japanese and arabian culture that are COMPLETE opposites. ( and the javanese culture should sit right in the middle.) some of them find me shy and way too polite (up to the point where it gets really awkward and annoying), while others find me really rude and yea, so you just don't know how to act and you'd have to stick with just behaving the best you could and however you feel most appropriate. my (japanese) family on my dad's side is really small, and even though they live in japan, which is like ages away, you kinda know who everyone is. and if you don't, the minute you're introduced to them, you'll remember for a lifetime or at least have a rough idea of who they are. i dont see or talk to them very often since i dont speak any japanese and they hardly speak a word of english or indonesian, and it gets really hard to connect and keep in touch with them- but when you ARE with them, it really feels like you connect. somehow. it's kinda weird. but anyway. yea..and they're really polite.. you know.. with all the bowing.. they're really disciplined and neat.. and stufF? it gets really cosy when we do visit japan, with the cosy house in the suburbs and the sushi and all the good food and the simple lifestyle. the (arabian) family from my mom's side on the other hand is very.. different. they're loud and lively and they do things in a different way. they have a totally different culture and.. yea. and cuz it's considered normal in Arabian families to marry more than once, there are like.. SO many of them. and the family's just.. HUGE. up to the point where everyone starts looking the same and you dont know who's who. and it gets kinda confusing, you'd ask, say, your mom.. like.. "oh who's that?" and she'd be like "oh that's your aunt" and you'd be like "oh she's your sister!" and she'd be like "no she's not" and so you'd be like "uh.. how is she my aunt?". and so in my mom's family i feel like i know absolutely no one. people would just come up to me and go "oh hi honey! ooh look how much you've grown, i havent seen you for so long!" and stuff- and .. you just start thinking, cuz everyone just says that everytime and they all claim they havent seen you since you were like two or something, you just wonder WHO it is exactly you just met like..a few weeks ago or a few years ago who looked exactly like them. and as it gets kinda confusing, i've just given up competely trying to memorise all their names (yea that's really bad, i'm sorrryyyy)- and soon i might just start assuming that all arabians are connected to me somehow, since their families are so huge and they have such huge connections.
i've also lived in three different countries (so far) (indonesia, singapore and australia) so i've been influenced by the different cultures as well, and together with the different cultures of my family from both sides, it gets kinda weird cuz you just get really culturally confused. you just get really confused about your identity, and like.. where your home is and where and with whom you actually belong. it feels kinda like you're in a big fruit salad and you're just this odd mix of watermelon and grapes and melon residue, and you don't know how people should classify you because you're not really.. any of them, you're just.. a bunch of things mixed together. you know? and plus, i move around a lot- so it feels kinda weird feeling like i dont actually have a home. well, i'm either homeless since i dont have a particular home where i actually belong, or " homeful " since it looks like i have three homes. and so yea.. life gets pretty confusing, especially concerning your identity and place in the world, and my family can be completely random and weird at times- and there are just numerous things that the different sides can oppose to and disagree about. and it gets kinda hard to see them since everyone lives everywhere, and most just live miles away so you can't really just go down the road and visit them regularly. they eat different foods, do different stuff and just.. believe different things and value life differently. but yea, i believe my family and my experiences have.. made me more accepting of other people and of different cultures maybe? so that's a plus. and instead of hating it because it isnt "normal" or because it can get kinda odd sometimes, i've learnt to take advantage of this opportunity to be exposed to different cultures, to understand the world better and value the uniqueness of each culture. soo.. yea. i love my family. thanks guys.
